Some thoughts about Vitamin D

Here are some of my thoughts regarding vitamin D. I hope that you find them useful.

We know that vitamin D enhances the absorption of calcium from the intestinal tract. The data that links high levels of vitamin D with lower levels of cardiovascular disease may be confounded by the fact that good, healthy individuals who are out and about in the sun running, golfing, playing tennis, and swimming, are gaining their cardiovascular benefits through exercise rather than through the vitamin D that they are absorbing through their skin. I would, therefore, like to see more information about that.

After three to six months, you can recheck the levels of vitamin D and calcium. Certain quality research studies have suggested that there is little to be gained by ingesting extra supplements such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid, etc, but it seems that the data on vitamin D holds true and that we should all continue to follow the new information with added interest. You can see a resource about vitamin D at Vitamin D Deficient
